Hyderabad: Delay in onset of southwest monsoon led to rainfall deficiency of nearly 35% across Telangana in June. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), all districts, except Hyderabad, Jagtial, Jangaon and Karimnagar, received deficit rainfall in June.
Hyderabad was the only district to receive excess rainfall in two digits (11%). As against 105.6 mm cumulative rainfall from June 1 to June 30, Hyderabad received 116.9 mm rainfall. Highest rain deficit was recorded in Khammam (-73%), where only 35.2 mm rainfall was recorded as against 130.5 mm cumulative rainfall. Against the total normal rainfall of 132 mm in Telangana the State has received only 86.2 mm which is a departure of minus 35 percent .
Increased rainfall activity has also led to a drop in mercury levels. At 28.9 degree Celsius, the maximum temperature was four degree Celsius below normal, and at 23.2 degree Celsius, the minimum temperature was normal in the city.
The IMD, Hyderabad has issued a heavy rainfall warning till July 2 in view of a low pressure area that has formed over northeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood.
It is likely to become more marked and concentrate into a depression during next 24 hours.Meanwhile the IMD has issued a heavy to very heavy rains very likely to occur at ISOLATED Places in the districts of Adilabad, Komrambheem Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Karimnaar Pedapalle , Kamareddy , Rajanna Sircilla , Bhadradri Kothagudem Medak, JayShankar Bhupallapally , Siddipet of Telangana
In Hyderabad the sky conditions will be generally cloudy with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers and the temperatures will remain at 30 and 24 degrees Celsius.
