Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Saturday urged the Union government to extend financial assistance towards relief and restoration in districts affected by recent rains.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday spoke to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh over phone and requested him to ensure proper assistance to the state.
Rao told him that the heavy rains caused extensive damage to infrastructure and crops in various parts of the state.
Earlier, the Chief Minister held a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Mehmood Ali, Finance Minister Etela Rajender and Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma to review the losses. He went through the report prepared by various departments on the basis of information received from affected areas.
Mehmood Ali, Rajender and Sharma will visit New Delhi on Sunday to submit the report to Rajnath Singh and seek immediate assistance.
