Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K. T. Rama Rao claimed that Telangana has emerged as a role model for the country in implementing schemes for the welfare of farmers.
Addressing a meeting on Rythu Bandhu Scheme in Sircilla on Thursday, KTR said that the TRS Government has waived off crop loans of Rs. 17,000 crore and it will now be paying an amount of Rs. 4,000 per acre as assistances to all farmers across the State. He said the scheme was so unique that it would make Telangana a role model for the entire world. He said all Chief Ministers and leaders of different parties were highly impressed with the scheme. He said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao always thinks about farmers’ welfare and therefore, came up with an innovative scheme to help them. He said no such scheme was introduced during the period of previous Congress regimes.
KTR said that the TRS Government has been providing 24 hour power supply to farmers besides ensuring supply of seeds and fertilizers. Further, he said one Agriculture Extension Officer has been deputed for 5,000 acres of land. He said that the government is giving huge subsidy on purchase of agriculture equipment. With the construction of several irrigation projects, Telangana is about to witnesses a new revolution.
The minister accused the Congress leaders of obstructing the construction of irrigation projects. He alleged that Congress leaders anti-farmers and are opposing financial assistance being given to them by the State Government. (INN)
