Telangana Rashtriya Samiti’s Vijaya Shanthi in cheating case

Chennai, January 06: The Madras High Court today ordered issuance of notice to South Indian actress and Telangana Rastriya Samiti Leader Vijaya Shanthi in a cheating case filed by a businessman here.

Hearing a criminal revision petition filed by the complainant Inder Chand Jain seeking to set aside an order of lower court, Justice K N Basha ordered notice to her and granted two weeks time to reply.

In his petition, Jain sought a direction to police to register a complaint and investigate his allegation that the actress after receiving Rs 4.07 crore and executing an agreement for sale of a land in T Nagar, a prime area in the city, ‘colluded with others’ and cheated him without registering the land in his name in 2006.

He then filed a criminal case before a Metropolitan Magistrate Court here in 2009 seeking to order an investigation into it. However the court dismissed it in October last year stating he has not made out a prima facie case against the actress.

The High Court posted the matter to January for further hearing.
