Telangana Praja Samithi asks TRS to desist from using the Telangana Martyrs Memorial for political mileage

Telangana Praja Samithi asks TRS to desist from using the Telangana Martyrs Memorial for political mileage Telangana Praja Samithi asserts the participants of the 1969 Jai Telangana Movement were shocked and distressed at the blatant use of the Telangana Martryrs memorial at Gun Park by the Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy to score political mileage.

Telangana Praja Samithi which led the 1969 Jai Telangana Movement, in which 369 youth were killed in police firing, and in whose memory its founders lobbied to build the memorial, says by washing the memorial at the Gun Park by milk the Home Minister wanted to outdo the congress show. But the same Nayani Narsimha’s Government has not acknowledged the sacrifices made by these youth in 1969.

Speaking to the press, Neera Kishore Working President Telangana Praja Samithi said, “The TRS Government uses the Telangana Martryrs Memorial as a publicity gimmick, yet it has failed to recognize and honour the very martyrs whose ashes are buried under the memorial. She said, I am distressed that the same memorial for which the founders of Telangana Praja Samithi, Pratap Kishore, Raghveer Rao and others lobbied hard, is being used for cheap publicity by the Telangana Government.

The Government cannot on one hand ignore the 1969 Jai Telangana Movement and the struggle of the people in the last 45 years and on the other misuse the symbol of supreme sacrifice of its participants.”

She continued, “If the Government of Telangana is sincere about honoring the Martyrs then it should accord the same status to the 1969 Jai Telangana Movement as the 1857 revolt.
