New Delhi: As pre-poll campaigning enters its final day, United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi appealed to the people of Telangana to vote for Prajakutami.
In a video message released by the Congress on Twitter, Gandhi said, “Your vote is not only for the future of Telangana, but is for your future as well. The Prajakutami of Congress, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and the Communist Party of India (CPI) is your voice, your alliance, an alliance for each and every section of Telangana society.”
We made a promise to form the state of Telangana & we fulfilled that with the help of the people, that is the Congress way – to deliver on our assurances. Hitting out at the caretaker chief minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, the UPA chairperson alleged that the people of Telangana have been “cheated” by the ones in power.
“Four and a half years ago a separate state of Telangana was created. I too played a role in making that happen, but you have been betrayed by those in power in Hyderabad,” she said.
Urging people to vote for Prajakutami, Gandhi added, “Now is the time, wherever you are in Telangana to fulfill your hopes and expectations, your desires and aspirations. I appeal to you personally to vote for Prajakutami.”
Telangana Assembly elections are due on December 7 while counting of votes will take place on December 11.
