Telangana Police to host India’s first Police Martyrs Memorial Run

Telangana State Police will host the first Indian Police Martyrs’ Memorial Run (IPMMR) on October 16.

This Martyr’s Memorial Run is being organized by Telangana State Police in association with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, to remember the sacrifices made by the men and women of the police forces in the country.

The Martyr’s Memorial Run will have three categories – 2K, 5K and 10K with over 5,000 participants. People will have an opportunity to run along with police personnel from various police forces in  India. Telangana State Police plans to make the Run an annual calendar event. An Expo will be held at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road for all partner Police Forces to create awareness of the activities of various wings of the police. During the event, police equipment, weaponry, fleet etc., will be displayed in the stalls.

“The First Indian Police Martyrs’ Memorial Run is our way to pay respects to the officers who laid their lives in the line of duty and honour their sacrifices with involvement of citizens. This Run is an endeavor by the Police Forces to build community engagement and positive interface with citizens and registrations for the run at select police stations is one such attempt. We request citizens to participate in this solemn occasion and join us to share our respects” said DGP Anurag Sharma.

Telangana State Police is encouraging citizens to complete registrations in 10 select police stations. The registration charges for 2K – Rs. 250; 5K – Rs. 300 and 10K – Rs. 350 and can be paid at select police stations or online (www.policerun.in) as well. The Run across all three categories will start and end at People Plaza and every finisher gets a Medal. Finishers will also be served with refreshments.

The Martyrs’ Memorial Run is the culmination of different activities being undertaken in the entire State of Telangana that include Essay, Painting and Photography competitions; blood donation camps besides having short films and best news coverage on police in print and electronic media as well. The prizes for all these different competitions will be given by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on October 21 during the Police Commemoration Day.

Different music bands representing the Central Police Organizations and Central Armed Police Forces will play patriotic songs during the course of Run to encourage participants.

The participating police organizations include Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF): Assam Rifles, Border Security Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Indo Tibetan Border Police, National Security Guard and Sashastra Seema Bal.

The Central Police Organization (CPO) include Intelligence Bureau, Central Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Police Research & Development, National Crime Records Bureau, National Investigation Agency, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, North Eastern Police Academy and National Institute of Criminology & Forensic Science.
