Hyderabad: Stating that the TRS government was trying to modernize the Police department into a world class department, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy said the budget allocation to the Police department was aimed at delivering world class police services to the people in Hyderabad and rest of the State and to re-brand Hyderabad as a safe and smart city.
Responding to a question raised by TRS MLAs Beegala Ganesh, Durgam Chinnaiah, Challa Dharma Reddy, Rathod Bapurao on Friday during question hour, the Home Minister said a fully modernized police force in terms of manpower, weaponry, mobility, communication has been provided in the budget. He pointed out that over 400 modern police fleet was procured in the very first year of the formation of the State. “These vehicles are deployed in modern patrolling system in the State capital and vehicles for all the police stations in the State were provided and connected with Dial 100 control room. Technical backbone and IT Infrastructure for Traffic Management and control of organized crime in Hyderabad and Cyberabad was provided.
He said that the City wide CCTV surveillance system in Hyderabad and Cyberabad with video analytics connected over cable and wireless network connected to the command centre. Community CCTV project has been started under the provisions of the Public Safety Measures (Enforcement) Act, in which the concept of safe colony and safer communities can be promoted for the emergence of a safe and smart city. Citizen centric traffic enforcement and implementation of Integrated Traffic management system is under progress. Cashless e-challen system is introduced in state capital –first in the country. Body worn cameras for transparent and acceptable enforcement of traffic laws and rules would be in force. IT enabled apps for citizen services including emergency response and for issue of police certificates in cases of lost articles or documents; provision of funds under the plan budget for the first time for construction of police stations and barracks; procurement of modern equipment and gadgets for the effective functioning of police force in law and order, crime prevention and also in the cyber crime policing; people friendly policing and training and sensitization to all the police personnel at the cutting edge level; creating facilities for women in police stations. Women help-desk includes a reception centre run by women and a counseling centre with professional counselor and a legal advisor in each of the police stations; upgrading of Training Infrastructure in Telangana state Police Academy, police training centers, city training centers, district training centers and battalion training centers; doubling of ex gratia to the deceased/ injured police personnel minimum Rs.40 lakh and maximum Rs.1 crore with all other additional benefits for the family like housing, education and pay and pensionary benefits; Telangana state chief Minister’s medal for outstanding performance to 20 police personnel per annum with a cash award of Rs.5 lakh each which is highest in the country; provision of maintenance expenses to the police stations at Rs.75,000/pm per police station in the Hyderabad and Cyberabad commissionerates and at Rs.50-25 thousand in district and rural police stations; construction / upgrading of the police station buildings in Hyderabad and Cyberabad. Modernization of reception areas and other areas interfacing with the people; 24 storied police head quarter building in Banjara Hills, which will be the biggest in the country to house the technology fusion centre and a technological hub of the state government.
The Home minister said that the chain snatching was decreased this when compared with the previous years when Ganesh Gupta asked about the chain snatching and women safety. (NSS)
