Telangana panel interacted with over 100 groups

Hyderabad, June 18: The Srikrishna Committee on Telangana issue has so far interacted with about 100 groups and over 1,000 people as part of its consultation process. The committee today concluded its consultation process in Hyderabad. However, the Congress leaders are likely to meet the committee during the first week of July when it visits Hyderabad.

When pointed out that the political parties presenting more than one view would result in confusion, Srikrishna said, “more the confusion, better the solution”.

V K Duggal, membersecretary of the committee, said they would undertake field visits from next month and would like to complete the exercise by first week of August. Srikrishna said that he too would visit some areas. He said that they would hear all the people during the visits and intimate their visits to locals well in advance.

Srikrishna said that the committee members would not visit the districts where byelections are due. “We have nothing to do with elections. The Election Commission will do its duty and the committee will continue its job,” Srikrishna said.

Meanwhile, Telangana medicos, Progressive Telangana and Samaikhya Andhra Pradesh MLAs’ Forum met the committee today.

The MLAs’ Forum, represented by TG Venkatesh, E Pratap Reddy, K Rambhoopal Reddy and others, told the committee that the development of all the three regions would be possible in United Andhra Pradesh alone. They said that if the committee favoured division of the state, the committee should stay forever in Hyderabad to deal demands like separate Rayalaseema, separate Hyderabad and separate North Coastal Andhra.

Pratap Reddy said that civil war would take place in the state for share in river waters once Telangana is separated. He said that Rayalaseema was so backward and the development of the region was possible only in the United Andhra.
