Telangana outfits oppose TRS move to woo MIM for electoral gain

Several Telangana outfits have expressed their dismay over the Telangana Rashtra Samithi seeking support of the MIM for its MLC candidate Mohammed Ali on the ground that he is a minority candidate.
“As a matter of principle, we the people of Telangana do not want any electoral victory in the name of Telangana with the support of communal elements like the BJP and MIM. We would like to remind the TRS leadership that the Muslims of Telangana, especially in the districts, have thrown all their support behind the TRS in spite of opposition by the MIM to Telangana and to the TRS”, they added.

In a statement on behalf of Hyderabad Forum for Telangana, Progressive Telangana Foundation, Telangana Development Forum India and Telangana Information Trust and so on, Burgula Vijay Kumar has stated that when the entire world was aghast and repulsed at the hate speeches of MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi and BJP’s Praveen Togadia, it was not reasonable for the TRS to seek any alliance or seek support of communal parties like BJP and MIM for petty electoral gains and at the cost of weakening secular nature of Telangana movement.

He also stated that an understanding between the TRS and the MIM would alienate all Muslims of Telangana, who have been working selflessly for Telangana, especially in the districts like Karimnagar where TRS leader K. Chandrasekhara Rao won with a thumping majority Such a move will alienate all secular Hindus and Muslims who are supporting the Telangana movement, he stated, adding that the people of the region do not want any communal color to the secular movement.

Burgula also reminded TRS leader K Taraka Ramarao that MIM had been opposing the Telangana State since 1969 and continues to do so by creating hurdles at every step towards the realization of the goal of separate State. He also stated that nobody can forget the role played by MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi in accompanying late chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy as a campaigner against K. Chandrasekhara Rao and Telangana and the MIM’s alliance with the YSR Congress party, which is reflected in their preference for a Rayala-Telangana State. Despite this, the Muslims of Telangana stand solidly behind the TRS and Telangana. They cannot be betrayed now, he said.

On the other hand, the BJP has extended its support for Telangana but backed out once due to its own electoral compulsions, he added. Earlier, the Telangana outfits held a meeting in which Mahbub Alam Khan, DP Reddy (TDF-India president), Kiran Gontuka (TDF-Dallas, USA), Ravi (TDF-Boston), Vishweshwar Konda (PTF president, Prof. Harinath Polasa (TIT convener), Dr Biksham Gujja (TIT), Prof. Rama Melkote (HFT convener) were present.
