Telangana: New Police Station to come up to look into unauthorized establishments

Hyderabad: First of its kind, a special Police station is all set to come up in Hyderabad to look into unauthorized building constructions, civil violations in Telangana State.

It will be built at Buddha Bhavan in Secunderabad, is also part of GHMC’s proposed Enforcement, Vigilance and Disaster Management Cell.

This new PS will look into all the illegal constructions that have come up in Hyderabad and Secunderabad allowing the individuals to report FIR pertaining to the illegal constructions. According to estimations 10 percent of the 22 Lakh houses falling under GHMC limits are illegal and authorized while 50 percent of the constructions have clearly different constructions as proposed to the sanctioned building plans.

461 unauthorized constructions and 222 canal encroachments have been cleared since 2017 according to City Town Planners.

Speaking about the new project Greater Hyderabad mayor Bonthu Rammohan said the new Police will employ 600 employees which will include 100 Police personnel in the Enforcement Cell would include 100 police personnel. The Enforcement Cell will carryout inspections of the illegal constructions along with penalizing people flouting the norms with unauthorized establishments, littering streets with garbage, releasing water on roads.

The Cell will also look into civic grievances and disaster management, Hans reported.
