TRS legislator K.T.Ramarao today lambasted the state government of neglecting the Telangana region even in the matter of identifying drought affected areas in the region and thus denying the much needed relief to the affected farming community.
Addressing a press conference KTR pointed out that it was atrocious to declare only 16 mandals in Telangana region as drought affected out of the total 234 mandals identified in the entire state.
Asserting that hundreds of mandals were reeling under severe drought conditions in the T region, KTR wanted the Telangana Ministers to bring pressure on the Chief Minister to identify and declare more areas as drought affected. He also charged that most of the drought affected areas declared were in the districts belonging to the Chief Minister and many ministers.
The TRS legislator said that if the T ministers fail to act in making the government identify more drought areas in the region, the TRS would be forced to launch an agitation not only against the government but also against the T ministers. He also accused the government of giving a step-motherly treatment in the matter of providing relief to the farmers in the T region.
Recalling that the Chief Minister and even the TDP President had rushed to the areas affected by Neelam cyclone for providing relief and rehabilitation of the affected people, KTR alleged that same concern and anxiety was not being shown to the Telangana farmers who are reeling under severe drought conditions. He also charged that the farmers in the region were put to innumerable hardships due to power cuts and declared that TRS would continue its struggle till justice was meted out to the farmers in the region.
