Telangana MPs meet Chief Secretary over suage of MP Funds

Some Telangana MPs called on the Chief Secretary SP Singh at Secretariat this morning and held discussions with regard to the judicious utilization of MPLADS funds being released by the Central government.

 

Among the MPs, who met the Chief Secretary were BJP MP Bandaru Dattatraya and TRS MPs K Keshav Rao, Jitender Reddy, Gutha Sukhendar Reddy, Visweshwar Reddy, Captain Lakshmikantha Rao, Malla Reddy. Besides, Planning Department Special Chief Secretary B P Acharya, R&B Principal Secretary Sunil Sharma, Panchayat Raj Principal Secretary Vikas Raj, Municipal Administration Secretary Navin Mittal and Planning Department officials also participated in the meeting.

 

After the meeting, the MPs told media persons that they had complained to the Chief Secretary that the officials were ignoring and not following the proper protocol for the MPs during official functions. They also impressed upon the need for properly utilizing the MPLADS funds for welfare activities in their respective constituencies. They also wanted the State administration to place all the information regarding the quantum of funds released from time to time and also where, for what purpose and how much of these funds were spent. Until and unless this information was not posted on online, there would be delay in the release of the sanctioned amounts, they bluntly told Chief Secretary.

 

Earlier, the Chief Secretary assured the MPs that the works sanctioned under MPLADS funds would be executed on priority and they will be specially reviewed with the District Collectors in video conference. The Chief Secretary exuded confidence that progress would be achieved in about six months. With regard to protocol, the CS the MPs that he would direct the Collectors to observe the rules in letter and spirit. The CS also released a book in Telugu about the guidelines on MPLADS funds brought out by the Planning Department.
