Telangana movement is the topic for discussion after Parkal election results

Once again Telangana Movement has become the topic for discussion by the political parties in the state after the declaration of the election results of Parkal Assembly constituency. TRS which claims to be the champion for the cause of Telangana, is not satisfied with the outcome of the Parkal Assembly election result because the anti Telangana Political parties have also fared well in the election.

This only proves that Telangana movement is getting slower. The tempo which was there in Telangana movement three years back is losing its ground. Parkal falls in the home town of TRS ideologue late Prof. K. Jayashankar. In his village TRS got third position whereas TDP and Congress polled more votes in that area. People have maintained distance from TRS Due to the recent political changes in the state. The important question which is making rounds in the political circles is whether the Central Govt. will take a decision on Telangana in the near future or will it postpone it till 2014 general elections in the state. Will the Govt. of India will set it aside by giving an assurance.

Earlier, the Centre had avoided the solution of Telangana issue by constituting Sri Krishna and Sachar Committees. People have started feeling that the zeal of TRS for Telangana Agitation has become slow. Its target is also 2014 election although TRS succeeded in the enhancement of its representation in the Assembly, it didn’t succeed in pressurizing Govt. of India for solving Telangana issue.

Since general elections are nearing, once again TDP and Congress parties have become active in politics. They have become active in politics. They have represented their views separately to the Central Govt. about Telangana but the issue didn’t progress even a step forward. The grip of political parties on Telangana issue has become loose and weak.

After Parkal results, the leaders of TDP and Congress are anxious to save their seats. They are contemplating to constitute a common forum for this purpose. How far these efforts would materialize, only time can tell us.

But one thing is certain, the leaders need a platform to be amidst the public. Pressure is mounting on TDP Supremo Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu to take a decision on Telangana is easily possible so that the party doesn’t have to face defeat in 2014 general elections. The result of Parkal has encouraged the leaders of TDP because it gained the third position in this constituency whereas Congress candidate lost his deposit.
