Telangana ministers make peace with Congress MPs

Hyderabad, September 23: The verbal spat between Telangana Congress MPs and ministers is likely to subside with the ministers deciding against continuing the war of words, on the advice of chief minister K Rosaiah.

The ministers, however, were still not happy with the MPs’ ‘praise’ of TRS leader K Chandrasekhar Rao.

The chief minister reportedly suggested to ministers Danam Nagender and M Mukesh Goud when the latter called on him at his residence this morning, not to prolong the issue as the high command will look into the remarks made by Telangana MPs. Accordingly, the ministers have decided not to indulge in further criticism against their party MPs. “Some of the Telangana MPs’ criticism against us will be left to their wisdom. It is not proper for them to repeatedly criticise us,’’ they told newsmen after the meeting.

It was reported that the MPs – Madhu Yashki Goud, Gutha Sukhender Reddy and Manda Jagannadham met at the residence of MP G Vivek last night, and came out with harsh words against the Telangana ministers. They challenged the ministers to show one instance where they (all 11 Telangana Congress MPs) had defied the orders of the high command.

Nagender meanwhile asserted that they were working with some guidelines prescribed by the party.

“Our demand was that all the state Congress leaders and workers should work towards strengthening the leadership of Sonia Gandhi. In reality, all these members (Telangana MPs) remained like spectators when the TRS leader criticised Sonia Gandhi in the past.

It was we who responded to KCR’s criticism on Sonia Gandhi. We have decided not to approach the party high command to make a complaint against our party MPs since they are a part of the family. We have no personal differences with them,’’ he added.

As for separate Telangana issue, the minister said the issue would be resolved subject to the report submitted by the Srikrishna committee.

On the other hand, MP Manda Jagannadham said: “There is no intention for us to prolong the issue, but will be prepared to counter the charges by the ministers. We are ready to defend our activities if the ministers takes the issue before the party high command,’’ he added.
