9th December is the birthday of Ms. Sonia Gandhi. It is possible that the new Telangana State would be born on the same day this year. It may be noted that the then Home Minister, Mr. P. Chidambaram had announced the formation of separate Telangana State on 9th December 2009 but on account of agitation in Andhra region, Congress had deviated from its promise. Now that CWC took a decision and the cabinet also endorsed it, it is quite likely that Ms. Sonia Gandhi may take the credit of formation of separate Telangana. It is expected that all the formalities would be completed by then so that announcement could be made for the formation of Telangana on 9th December 2013. By that time the Group of Ministers may identify the proposed capital for Seema Andhra region and other details of transfer of assets etc. Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission has been entrusted the task of mining, Judiciary, Irrigation etc. In the same manner, the Group of 10 Ministers would finalize the new Capital of Andhra.
Congress has majority in Assembly in Telangana region. It is contemplating to join hands with TRS in order to ensure formation of State Cabinet soon after the formation of Telangana. The contenders for the post of Chief Minister of Telangana have already become active. It is hoped that Parliament will pass Telangana Bill in its winter session. The officials of Home, Finance and Law have become active to finalize the details to ensure the gift of Telangana on the occasion of Ms. Sonia Gandhi’s birthday.
