Before proceeding to the Telangana Legislative Assembly to participate in the inaugural day of budget session, legislators of all major political parties paid rich tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of Telangana State.
TRS Ministers and legislators assembled on Saturday at the Gun Park at Martyrs Memorial and paid floral tributes to Telangana martyrs. Speaking to media persons later, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy said that Telangana State became a reality due to the sacrifices made by hundreds of students and youth. He also praised the role played by employees, students and other sections of the society during the statehood movement. He claimed that the TRS Government has been working hard to fulfill the dreams of Telangana martyrs. He said that the government has launched several schemes in the last nine months for the welfare of different sections of the society.
Telangana Congress legislators, led by Leader of the Opposition K Jana Reddy and Deputy CLP leader in Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, paid floral tributes to the martyrs at Gun Park.
Led by Errabelli Dayakar Rao, the TDP legislators paid tributes to Telangana martyrs. Speaking to media person later, Errabelli alleged that the TRS Government has completely neglected the sacrifices made by the martyrs. He said that the government has paid promised Rs 10 lakh compensation to the families of only 459 martyrs although more than 1200 people committed suicide.
The BJP legislators came to the Assembly in a padyatra from GHMC building to register their protest against the forcible collection of Property Tax. The legislators included floor leader Dr K Lakshman, BJP State President G Kishan Reddy, MLCs Dilip Kumar and other MLAs.
