Telangana leaders want Duggal to quit honorably

Hyderabad, November 11: The Congress Action Committee for Telangana
(CACFT) has demanded that the Justice B N Srikrishna Committee
member-secretary, Mr V K Duggal, resign from his post for
participating in a dinner hosted by the Seema-Andhra leader and MP, Mr
Rayapati Sambasiva Rao. Either the Justice Srikrishna Committee or the
Union government must remove him from the post immediately if Mr
Duggal failed to quit honorably.

Speaking at the Assembly media point on Wednesday along with Mr
Palvai Govardhan Reddy, Mr Kamalakar Rao, Mr Yadava Reddy, Mr
Indrasain Reddy and Mr K M Prathap, Mr R Damodar Reddy found fault
with Mr Duggal’s participation in the dinner hosted by Seemandhra MP
and doubted integrity of Mr Duggal. He said that Mr Duggal’s act
clearly reveals that he was supporting the Seema-Andhra region
leaders. People of the region have serious doubts about Mr Duggal’s
integrity for participating in a dinner hosted by the Seema-Andhra
leaders at a time when the Committee was drafting its report.

Exuding confidence in the Justice Srikrishna Committee, Mr Damodar
Reddy asked Mr Duggal as to why he met Mr Rayapati thrice. He said
that there was meaning in Mr Duggal meeting with the Union Minister,
Mr S Jaipal Reddy, and the CWC member, Dr K Keshava Rao, because they
held responsible positions. Accusing the Seema-Andhra leaders of
trying to influence the Justice Srikrishna Committee, he said that as
part of their strategy to sabotage formation of separate Telangana
State, they called Mr Duggal to a dinner hosted by them.

The former minister said that they would also write to the Justice
Srikrishna Committee demanding immediate removal of Mr Duggal from the
Committee. They would also write to the Centre and all others
concerned in this regard.

Mr Kamalakar Rao said that the Seema-Andhra leaders were misguiding
the Justice Srikrishna Committee by distorting facts. Recalling that
Telangana MPs had demanded separate Telangana State even before 1956,
Mr Kamalakar Rao released some press cuttings in support of his claim.
He said that the CACFT sent the same to the Justice Srikrishna
Committee.
