Telangana land survey: Retd. IAS Shafiquzzaman cautions Government over Wakf properties

Hyderabad: As the Telangana government takes up the comprehensive land survey and settlement from this month, Retired IAS Mr. Shafiquzzaman raises his concerns with the Chief Minister Mr. K. Chandrashekhar Rao in a letter addressed to him.

He applauded the efforts of State Government for the ambitious and massive exercise to survey land and update the revenue records. Shafiquzzaman seeks indulgence of KCR while pointing out at the lot of Wakf properties are under encroachment and in many cases names of private individuals have been recorded against these properties.

There is large scale apprehension in the minds of Muslims that unscrupulous elements might take advantage of this survey and get their names updated in the Revenue records.

Accompanied with below letter, he also submitted a CD containing district wise data which shows that in ninety percent cases of the Wakf properties are recorded in the name of individuals.

Shafiquzzaman said that the Muslim community will be thankful if a letter may go from the Hon’ble Chief Minister to all the district collectors to ensure that Wakf properties are recorded in the name of Wakf Institutions and private names are deleted from the records.

The massive program will be held for one month in which more than 10,000 government staff will be deployed.
