Hyderabad: Telangana Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister K Taraka Rama Rao on Thursday handed over the 350 Swachh Autos to the beneficiaries for collection of garbage from the households in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said as part of Swachh Hyderabad in order to improve civic amenities Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is deploying additional 650 Swachh Autos with higher lifting capacity of 1.5 tons of capacity whereas earlier ones is 850 kgs only.
Further, he appealed the households/citizens to cooperative with the sanitation staff by placing dry and wet garbage in separate bins to improve efficiency in garbage collection and also in making a healthy Hyderabad city.
Mr Rao recalled the services rendered by the sanitation staff during the spread of Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lock down is laudable.
Further the Minister suggested to take up sanitation special drive keeping in view of the present prevailing situation.
GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijaya Laxmi said these Swachh autos allotted to the rag pickers / poor people under Driver cum owner with contribution of beneficiaries 10 per cent and 90 per cent by GHMC. The 650 Autos will be distributed to the all 30 circles according to their requirement. These autos were specially designed to carry garbage even the Health Hazards materials can be transported.
Animal Husbandry Minister T.Srinivas Yadav, Danam Nagender, MLS, Dy Mayor Mothe Srilatha, Corporator Ms Vijaya Reddy, Commissioner GHMC Lokesh Kumar among others participated in the programme.
