‘Telangana jailer got illegal gratification from Nayeemuddin aides’

Hyderabad: Telangana Director General of Prisons, VK Singh today said information has been received about a jailer allegedly receiving “illegal gratification” from associates of slain gangster Nayeemuddin.

The Prisons department has decided to send the information to the Special Investigation Team (inquiring the offences of Nayeemuddin), Singh said in a media release.

“In our continuous fight with corruption, we have got to know certain information that one of our jailers at central prison, Warangal, Gopi Reddy has received illegal gratification from Pasam Srinivas and Sandela Sudhakar, the closest aides of gangster Nayeemuddin who were lodged as detenues on July 15 in Central prison Warangal,” the release said.

There is no information about any allegation against any other officer in the jail department for having connection with aides of Nayeemuddin, it added.

Nayeemuddin alias Nayeem alias Balanna (45), wanted in several cases, including the murder of an IPS officer, was killed in an exchange of fire with police in Shadnagar town of Mahabubnagar district on August 8.

A string of cases were registered against Nayeem in various police stations in Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, Khammam, Karimnagar and Ranga Reddy districts.
