Telangana JAC embarks on “bus yatra” for ‘T’ State

Hyderabad, March 21: The Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC), spearheading a peaceful stir in support of separate Telangana state, today embarked on a three-day ‘bus yatra’ in the region, to drum up support for the cause.

Former Kakatiya University Vice-Chancellor and Telangana protagonist K Jayashankar flagged of the yatra from the Telangana Martyrs’ memorial near the State Assembly.

The Union Government, after making a policy statement on December nine and following it up with announcements in both Houses of Parliament could not go back on its commitment, he said, adding further delay on the statehood issue would only cause confusion and animosity among people of different regions.

The yatra would cover the length and breadth of Telangana region stressing the need for expediting the constitutional process for formation of new Telangana state in keeping with the Centre’s December nine announcement, Prof Jayashankar said.

TJAC Chairman M Kodandaram, Former Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) Legislature Party Leader E Rajender, Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers Association Leader K Swamy Goud and senior journalist TJAC Co-Convenor Mallepalli Lakshmaiah, were among those participating in the ‘bus yatra’ which will cover Suryapet, Manugur,Palvancha, Kothagudem, Yellandu, Khammam, Dornakal,Bayyaram, Mahbubabad, Gudur, Narasampet, Warangal and Hanamkonda.
