Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday held meeting with MPs from the state on the issue of the Presidential election for which voting will take place on Thursday.
Talking to media persons after emerging from the meeting, MPs Forum convener Ponnam Prabhakhar said that the meeting has discussed about the Presidential elections. Except Presidential polls, he said that no other issue was figured in their talks.
Prabhakhar said that Sonia Gandhi appealed to all Congress leaders from the state to maintain caution during voting so that nothing goes wrong and all formalities are completed. He said that Sonia Gandhi asked all parties to support the candidature of Pranab Mukherjee for the President post and win him with a huge margin of votes.
Malkajgiri MP Sarvey Satyanarayana said that Telangana issue was not figured in their talks with Sonia Gandhi.
Sonia Gandhi political advisor Ahmed Patel, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, Health Minister and in-charge of state Ghulam Nabi Azad attended the meeting.
