AICC secretary and MLC Ponguleti Sudharkar Reddy on Monday condemned the efforts being made by ‘some politicians’ who are trying to divert the attention of the Centre over the Telangana issue, which he said, has reached crucial phase.
Talking to media persons at Assembly premises, Ponguleti Sudharkar Reddy said that the leaders instead of making efforts to resolve the Telangana issue were complicating the issue by issuing provocative statements. He appealed to all party leaders to work above politics to resolve the statehood issue.
Responding to the rumours that Telangana leaders would be offered the Chief Minister’s post to dilute the statehood agitation, he said that “our priority was formation of Telangana state not the Chief Minister’s post and financial packages for the backward regions, ” he said. He appealed to the leaders to observe restraint over the sensitive Telangana issue and avoid making any provocative remarks that could disturb law and order situation. (INN)
