An international racket in sale of kidneys has been busted by police in Nalgonda district of Telangana and four persons, including an agent and donors, who allegedly indulged in sale of human organs, have been arrested.
Accused K Suresh, an agent, who sold his kidney in December 2014, was arrested from here yesterday along with three other donors Abdul Hafeez, P Mahesh and K Naresh, who had sold their kidneys for a package amount received from principal agents, Nalgonda Superintendent of Police Vikram Jeet Duggal said.
The SP said Suresh, 22, a hotel management student, who wanted to lead a lavish life and had put up his contact number on a webiste ‘ineedkidney.com’, had sold his kidney in December 2014 after he was taken to a hospital in Colombo.
“Suresh apart from himself trafficked 15 others, who too sold their kidneys for Rs 5 lakh each while Suresh earned Rs 50,000 for each such kidney sale,” Duggal said.
The accused have been booked under relevant sections of IPC and AP Transplantation of Human Organs Act.IPC and AP Transplantation of Human Organs Act.
