Hyderabad: Migrant workers from Telangana who returned from Gulf are facing troubles as their names are deleted from their family ration cards.
According to the news published in New Indian Express, migrant workers said that Tehsildars are not cooperating with them when they are trying to re-register themselves. However, Tehsildars said that they are unable to access the feature.
It is also reported that Rebbas Rajanna of Devampally village in Jagtial district, who was in Bahrain for eight years as a slave under his employer and returned in 2015 could not get subsidized grain and fuel as his name is deleted from the record.
Another migrant worker, Bollam Narsaiah (23) of Rajanna’s village who got Aadhar card after he returned to India in 2017, failed to re-register his name on the ration card.
Talking on this, Commissioner of Telangana State Civil Supplies Department CV Anand said that Government had directed them not to change the status of the names deleted or to issue new cards until Electronic Point of Sale digital system project completes in October 2017.
Meanwhile, representatives of Telangana Gulf Workers’ Association, questioned Telangana government for not designing an effective NRI policy to resolve the troubles of migrant workers. N. Devendar Reddy and Bheem Reddy, activists of Gulf Victims’ Rights said that not including the names in the list is like denying their fundamental rights.
