Telangana govt sanctioned over 94K pattas for tribals under ROFR: Minister

Hyderabad: Telangana Tribal Welfare Minister Ms Sathyavathi Rathod on Thursday informed the Assembly that the TRS government has sanctioned 94,774 Pattas (on Podu Lands) for eligible Tribals covering 3,03,970 acres under Recognition of Forest Rights (ROFR) from 2008.

Replying to questions from members in the house during question hour, Ms Rathod said since the enactment of ROFR in 2005, 1,84,730 claims were received pertaining to 6,31,850 acres. Out of which, field enquiry was conducted and eligible persons were issued Pattas, she said.

The Minister said, since 2018, 27,000 claims pertaining to 98,745 acres were made for ROFR Pattas, and out of which 2,401 claims pertaining to 4,248 acres found eligible and 9,976 claims pertaining to 40,780 acres were found ineligible by District Level Committee (DLC).

About 15,558 claims pertaining to 53,565 acres are still pending before DLCs, Ms Rathod added.
