Telangana govt to provide Rs 1.5 crore to each new district

Hyderabad: Telangana government today said it will sanction Rs 1.5 crore each to newly proposed districts for construction of collectorates and district police headquarters.

According to an official statement issued by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s office, the Chief Minister held review meeting with senior officials and collectors of the existing districts.

“Rupees one crore for Collectorate and another Rs 50 lakh for the police headquarters will be given to each of the new districts,” the statement said quoting the Chief Minister.

“Collectors should personally supervise development and welfare activities of the government. I believe that districts with smaller areas will help implementing various programmes aimed at improving the lifestyles of SC, ST, BC and poor people of the society,” it said.

The government had earlier announced that it would carve out an additional 17 new districts from the existing 10, making it to a total of 27.

The government had already issued the draft notification for the new districts, seeking suggestions and comments from the stakeholders.
