The Telangana Government on Tuesday declared 231 mandals as drought hit.
The announcement was made during a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao at his camp office on Tuesday. The meeting was also attended by Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma, Principal Secretary Revenue Meena, CMO Secretary S. Narsing Rao and other senior officials.
Of 443 mandals, as many as 231 have been declared as drought hit. They include all 64 mandals ofo Mahabubnagar, 46 mandals of Medak and 36 mandals of Nizamabad. Similarly, 33 out of 37 mandals in Ranga Reddy, 19 out of 57 mandals in Karimnagar, 22 out of 59 mandals in Nalgonda and 11 out of 51 mandals of Warangal district to have been declared drought hit. None of the 41 mandals of Adilabad and 51 mandals of Khammam are affected with drought. (INN)
