Telangana government to launch its own ‘T-Wallet’ app

Hyderabad: The Telangana state government is going to start its own ‘T-Wallet’, on Thursday. The wallet would be user-friendly with emphasis on convenience, security and privacy, as an “anytime anywhere digital payment option for everyone”.

Citizens can use T Wallet to make payments for both Government and Private transactions to avail services with zero charges and is integrated with Government departments such as Mee Seva, GHMC,HMWSSB, TSNPDCL, TSSPDCL,RTA.

The state government also got clearance from the RBI to launch the e-payment facility. This is the first such initiative by any state government.

Though the directions were given last year after the demonetisation but it took five months to make it fully operational.

The T-Wallet would work on smart-phones, feature phones, and on online web browser. The ‘T-Wallet’ would be available in Telugu, Urdu and English language.

In the first phase all government departments are being made part of T-Wallet. Its services would be extended to different sectors by tying up with reputed private players.

An official said. “As our motto is service without worrying about profits or making money, T-Wallet will not be charging extra money on payments as being done by other payment wallets.”
