‘Telangana To Give Rs 25,000 Crore For Drinking Water Irrigation Projects’

Hyderabad: The Telangana government will allocate Rs. 25,000 crore for completion of drinking water irrigation projects in the budget for 2016-17, Minister for Major Irrigation Harish Rao said here on Wednesday.

Addressing the media after launching works of synchronising the Gouravelli and Gandipalli reservoirs with link canal of Thotapalli project at Ogulapur village in the district. He said Rs. 117.93 crore was sanctioned for Thotapalli project and the Mid Manair project would be completed by June this year. 25 TMC of water can be stored in the Mid Manair project.

The State government has sanctioned Rs. 1,000 crore for Gouravelli reservoir and Rs. 334 crore for Gandipalli reservoir. About 48,000 acres of land will get water for irrigation through Thotapalli project, the minister added. According to Rao, 1,236 houses and 3,830 acres of land in three villages were submerged in Thotapalli project.
