Telangana Employees strike continues

Hyderabad, September 15: On the appeal made by Telangana Joint Action Committee the strike of the State Govt. employees continued in the second day also. Nine districts of Telangana suffered a set back as no official business was transacted. Govt. employees staged dharna in front of the offices. Higher officials had difficulty in the movement of the files.

The employees demanded that an early decision should be taken to about the separate statehood for Telangana. Student’s organization also staged dharna and organized ‘raasta roko’ programme blocking the traffic.

On account of the coal workers strike, the supply of coal to plants producing electricity is hit very badly. The workers of singareni collieries produce 20 thousand tones of coal daily. Govt. is making conciliatory efforts to coal workers.

RTC employees will also join the strike from 19th Sept. Students barged into the office of Joint Collector, Khammam and damaged furniture. Police had to resort to lathi charge to disperse the students. In Kareemnagar, students took out a rally and formed a human chain. They burnt the effigy of Sri D. Sreedhar Babu, minister. Cinema halls also remained closed.
