Telangana Elections: Congress candidate injured after BJP activists pelt stones

Challa Vamshichand Reddy who is contesting from Kalwakurthy Assembly constituency from the Congress party was allegedly attacked by unidentified persons in Jangareddypalli village in Mahbubnagar district on Friday.

According to the report published in National Herald India, he was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Congress leaders alleged that BJP workers attacked Vamshi. Police brought the situation under control.

On information that Congress and BJP workers were clashing, Vamshichand reached the spot following which the incident occurred near a polling booth. He was attacked by unidentified persons. Police are yet to confirm to which political party the attackers belonged to.

Uttam Kumar Reddy, the Telangana Congress president condemned the attack and said his party and its allies were being attacked allegedly by TRS and BJP candidates out of fear of losing elections.

He called the attack as undemocratic, he said their party candidate from Tandur constituency Rohin Reddy was attacked on Thursday late night and Congress former MP and AICC secretary Madhu Yashki Goud, too, was attacked and his car damaged.

He stated that “The trends reaching us clearly indicate that Congress-led Praja Front is going to win. Congress and alliance parties candidates should not lose heart and put up a brave face to ensure free and fair polling is done. Praja Front is surely going to form the government.”
