Hyderabad: The Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) 2019 held by Telangana state for admission into medical and engineering courses is likely to be conducted from May 2.
The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) mandatory body that conducts all common entrance tests for admissions into various professional courses, is likely to announce the dates this week.
“A meeting will be conducted and dates will be finalized for the conduct of the EAMCET and other common entrance tests this week,” a senior official said.
The computer-based 2018 test was a success and now all the common entrance tests including the EAMCET will be held in the same pattern this year too.
EAMCET will be held in a phased manner like the last year.
As many as 1,36,305 candidates had appeared EAMCET 2018 for the engineering stream, out of which 1,06,646 qualified.
While in the AM steam, 66,858 candidates appeared for the entrance test of which 60,651 cleared it. Last year EAMCET for the AM stream was held on May 2 and 3 whereas the engineering stream was held on May 4, 5 and 7.
Both the tests were held in two sessions i.e., 10 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 6 pm, TT reports.
The body will also rope in universities besides appointing convenors for the conduct of CET’s.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad will be entrusted the job of holding the EAMCET and the Engineering Common Entrance Test (lateral entry for polytechnic students).
Likewise other universities like Osmania University will be entrusted to conduct the Education Common Entrance Test, Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test and Law Common Entrance Test for LLB and LLM courses while Kakatiya Univerity is expected to conduct the Integrated Common Entrance Test.
