Telangana doctors put to injustice

Hyderabad, June 14: Telangana Rashtra Samithi staged a dharna at the directorate of Medical and Health Services A.P., against the injustice meted out to the doctors of Telangana region. Former minister N. Narasimha Reddy organized led the dharna programme.

TRS alleged that despite seniority, Telangana doctors were not given promotion and they are being posted to Anshra and Rayalaseema regions. They also alleged that the doctors belonging to Andhra and Rayalaseem regions are being promoted in time and they are getting lucrative postings. The leaders told that out of 350 doctors of Gandhi Hospital, 280 are from Andhra & Rayalaseema whereas in Osmania Hospital, out of 490 doctors, 360 are from Andhra and Rayalaseem regions.

Mr. Narasimha Reddy that in the appointments of nurses also injustice is being done to Telangana candidates. It is proposed to make these appointments under free zone whereas Hyderabad falls under 6th zone. He said that promotions are being given to doctors of Telanganafrom Andhra every two years whereas the senior doctors are deprived of their legitimate promotions.

Mr. Mahmood Ali informed that the Telangana doctors posted at Visakhapatnam and Kurnool were prevented from discharging their duties by the native people. Harassed by these people, the doctors from Telangana are reluctant to go to Andhra region in such cases, the doctors from Andhra region are begin recruited. The Directorate of Medical and Health Services is dominated by Andhra officials and they are deliberately delaying the promotions of Telangana doctors.

The leaders threatened that, in case such injustice is continued, TRS will be forced to launch an agitation. The deputation of the leaders met the Director of Medical & Health Services and submitted a memorandum to him.
