Telangana could be formed by constitutional amendment

CPI’s Praja Porava Yatra ended at Warangal yesterday. It covered ten districts of Telangana to create awareness among the public for the formation of separate Telangana State. At the end of the Yatra, a mass public meeting was arranged at Warangal. National Secretary of CPI., Mr. S. Sudhakara Reddy, State Secretary of CPI, Dr. K. Narayana, former Rajya Sabha MP, Mr. Syed Aziz Pasha, Mr. G. Mallesh, MLA, Mr. Ch. Venkat Reddy, Mr. Ram Narasimha Rao, Mr. V.S. Bose, City Secretary of CPI and others attended the meeting.

Addressing the public meeting, Mr. S. Sudhakara Reddy told that under the pretext of non-consensus among the local political parties, the Central Govt. is playing with the sentiments of the people of Telangana. He told that if the Central Govt. is serious about the formation of Telangana State, it should amend the Constitution. Central Govt. is considering the number of MLA’s in the State Assembly as the basis, which is not correct.

Dr. K. Narayana who led the Praja Parava Yatra told that even after the sacrifice of 800 lives of Telangana students, Central Govt. is not serious about the formation of separate Telangana State. He urged the need to prosecute both the Central & State governments for the deaths of these youths. He told that the formation of integrated A.P. was based on an agreement, which was not followed later. He appealed to the Central Govt. to end these dramatic tactics and declare the formation of Telangana State immediately.
