Telangana congress MPs arrested

Congress MPs from the Telangana region were arrested by the police when they tried to stage a dharna at the camp office of the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, protesting against the arrest of thousands of Marchers at various places of the region, to prevent their participation in the March.

The MPs have expressed anger at the highhandedness of the police who have been arresting those coming to the city for participating in the Telangana March despite government permission.

The MPs including Manda Jagannadham, Madhu Yashki Goud, Vivek, Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Rajaiah and former MP KK proceeded to the camp office to stage dharna. Madhu Yashki was engaged in a heated argument with the police and tried to push a policeman who tried to stop him from proceeding into the camp office. The MPs were later taken into custody.

The MPs have earlier expressed anger at the Chief Minister for allowing this situation. They faulted the government for unnecessarily allowing tensions to prevail instead of allowing the March to take place peacefully.

Government went back on promise: Kodanda Meanwhile JAC Chief Prof. Kodandaram has charged the government of going back on its assurance of allowing the March by illegally arresting thousands of Telangana activists. He has however appealed to the people to observe restraint. He has assured that the matter would be discussed at the March venue and a future course of action would be announced from there. He said despite all the restrictions, they would complete the March and announce the will of the people on the streets.

He has charged the government of withdrawing train and bus services to scuttle the March. He however said that closure of the Secretariat was a success to the Telangana region.
