Hyderabad, January 03: Telangana Congress leaders today strongly condemned the ‘unethical’ behaviour of the Srikrishna committee members, including its chairman Justice BN Srikrishna, for allegedly making public the broad contours of the report and for violating the code of secrecy much before January 6, the day the Centre has decided to make the report public.
After a two-hour meeting at the residence of MP G Vivek here, MPs M Jagannadham and G Sukhender Reddy, MLA R Damodar Reddy and others strongly flayed the committee members for ‘leaking’ contents of the report to the media. It was very unethical to reveal the contents of the report and violate the sanctity of its secrecy. Besides, the committee members talked about law and order and the presence of para-military in the state. “Having read the comments of the committee members we have the feeling that the committee was prejudiced against Telangana”, they remarked.
Indirectly referring to the committee member-secretary VK Duggal, Jagannadham said that the ‘high-flying’ secretary was found partying with or accepting hospitality from leaders directly connected with the issue and who were against separate statehood for Telangana. “We strongly condemn this type of attitude since such actions would give scope for doubts among the Telangana people”, he added.
The leaders also said that it was the first committee of this nature which had approached the media more than five times during its work and preferred to meet the media twice even after finishing its work. “More than once they preferred to present wrist watches as gifts to mediapersons. A thing never done and could be imagined. It is nothing but unethical. Is it not corruption and inducement?’’ they questioned.
