Hyderabad, October 25: Telangana Congress leaders on Sunday targeted YS Jagan Mohan Reddy indirectly for the trouble at the Telangana Martyrs’ meeting held yesterday at Mahaboobnagar.
Without naming him, they said that Telangana people would teach a fitting lesson to those who try to disrupt meetings meant to pay tributes to martyrs. They decided to submit a report to the PCC on the incident. They are also preparing to submit another report to the SP requesting him to identity those who created the trouble and take action against them.
Condemning the attitude of those who had caused trouble at the meet, senior leader K Keshava Rao said, “If this trend continues in future, we will not tolerate.” He defended Rajya Sabha member V Hanumanth Rao whose comments had evoked a sharp reaction the meeting. “He did not make any uncharitable comments. Yet, some persons who attended the meeting created a ruckus. It makes me wonder whether they had been hired to do this,” he said, adding that if this was true, he would take a very serious view of it.
The leaders, including R Damodar Reddy, Mallu Ravi, G Vivek and S Satyanarayana, said there was no point in demanding that YSR’s picture should have been displayed at the meeting. It was YSR who had said at an election meeting in 2009 that if Telangana was delivered, people in Andhra would have to obtain visas to go to Hyderabad, they pointed out.
If such disturbances in Telangana meetings continued, the perpetrators would be shown their place. “If need be, we can remove all statues of YSR in Telangana region,” they said.
