Telangana Congress leaders called on AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh at New Delhi on Monday and discussed the latest political situation in the State.
TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Leaders of Opposition K. Jana Reddy (Assembly) and Mohammed Ali Shabbir (Council) and TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka met Digvijay Singh and discussed the party’s dismal performance in recently held by-elections for Warangal Lok Sabha seat. The strategy for forthcoming MLC and GHMC elections was also discussed. The Telangana Congress leaders were reportedly asked to prepare an action plan to strengthen the party at grass root level.
The TPCC Chief reportedly told High Command that the Congress party could win the MLC seat from Ranga Reddy district on its own. However, it would need support of other parties in Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar districts. He also submitted a list of probable candidates for the three MLC seats.
According to sources, the Congress has finalised the candidature of former MLA Sudheer Reddy from Ranga Reddy district. (INN)
