Telangana Congress accuses KCR of neglecting education sector

Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Tuesday accused the TRS Government of completely neglecting the education sector in Telangana State.

Addressing a review meeting with Congress workers from Nampally constituency at GHCC Office in connection with the forthcoming GHMC elections, Shabbir Ali pointed out that almost all universities in the State have no Vice-Chancellors. The appointment of VCs has been delayed as KCR wants to amend the Universities Act to become the Chancellor of all universities, in place of the Governor. KCR is systematically trying to damage the entire education system. He is trying to sabotage the students’ associations and other JACs which became stronger during statehood movement.

Shabbir Ali also pointed out that Osmania University’s mess has remained closed due to non-payment of bills since June 18. He said nearly 600 research scholars are either forced to starve or eat foot outside. By closing the mess, KCR is taking revenge from the students for the recent protests they held against his proposal to take away OU’s land.

The Congress leader said that KCR’s rule was full of illusions based on blatant lies. He said no section of the society was happy with KCR’s performance. He slammed KCR for cheating the Muslim community with the fake promise of 12% reservation. While KCR promised to give reservation in just four months after coming to power, nothing has been done even after 12 months. Similarly, Urdu language has been completely neglected by the government to the extent that Urdu was completely removed from the ‘Swach Hyderabad’ logo. He said that MIM, which claims to be the champion of Muslims and Urdu, has remained silent on both the issues. The MIM also did not pressurise the TRS Government for ordering CBI probe into the Alair encounter, in which five Muslim under trials were killed by the police.

Shabbir Ali asked Congress cadre to get ready for GHMC elections. He asked them to apprise the people on how previous Congress Government developed Hyderabad by spending over Rs 1 lakh crore. He expressed confidence that Congress would win the GHMC election with a thumping majority.

The meeting was also addressed by Deputy CLP leader T Jeevan Reddy, Rajya Sabha MP R Anand Bhaskar. Vinod Kumar and other senior leaders. (INN)
