Telangana CM announces mega textile park, theme park for Warangal

Warangal (T’gana): A mega textile park, an education hub, a theme park with a convention centre would be developed in Warangal, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said today.

Rao, who wrapped up a three-day visit to Warangal today, said efforts are being made to establish the “number one textile hub in the country”.

“There is an excellent railway junction (at Warangal- Kazipet). If we can develop an airport, we can develop the number one textile hub in 2,000-3,000 acres. All types of clothes, including an apparel park, can be developed. Efforts are being made for these. The work will take off shortly,” he said.

Warangal, the second largest city in Telangana after Hyderabad, would also be developed as an “education hub”. A tribal university, a Sainik school and other reputed schools would be set up in the city, he said.

“At present infrastructure and development in Warangal city is lacking and the city will be modernised keeping in mind the future needs of the people,” he said, adding, an expert committee will be formed to prepare a project report for the city’s modernisation purpose.

The chief minister also said Rs 300 cr would be sanctioned every year for the development of the city.

Rao said efforts would be made to see that the water bodies at Laknavaram, Ramappa Tank and Ganapuram have water throughout the year. They would be developed as tourist destinations, he said.

Rao said Warangal would be provided funds to the tune of Rs 300 crore in the budget annually.

A special development authority headed by the district collector would be constituted to take up the development works.

A multi-storied district collectorate building, a theme park, including a convention centre, and a new multi- specialty hospital would also be constructed in the city, he added.
