Telangana becomes sixth member of SCZCC

Hyderabad: Today a special meeting of Executive Board and Governing Body of South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur was convened by Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, Governor of Maharashtra and Chairman of South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur here.
The South Central Zone Cultural Centre is an autonomous organization working under Union Ministry of Culture, with its headquarters in Nagpur having five Member States — Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh till date. It was decided and declared in this meeting that Telangana will now be the sixth Member State of South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur.
Cultural activities in this region will get a tremendous boost by joining SCZCC. Henceforth, the cultural activities in this State will be organized in consultation with the Department of Culture, Govt. of Telangana. The Governor of Maharashtra was very much interested to include this State in SCZCC. In the meeting Dr Rajeev Sharma, IAS, Chief Secretary of Telangana, B. Venktesham, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture; M. Harikrishna, Director, Department of Culture, Government of Telangana; Director of SCZCC Dr Piyush Kumar, Padmashri R Nageshwar Rao, Dr Yashoda Thakore, Shymasundar Ayyagery and Dr Alekhya Punjala were also present at the meeting.
It was also decided to open a Regional Centre of SCZCC in Telangana. The Governor of Maharashtra directed the SCZCC to organize some mega events in the coming months in this region, which will be a co-project between SCZCC and Dept. of Culture, Govt. of Telangana. (NSS)
