The Haj Committee of India has assured to increase the Haj Quota for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States for Haj 2015.
Telangana State Haj Committee (TSHC) Special Officer Prof. S. A. Shukoor, who returned back to Hyderabad after attending the meeting of Chairpersons and Executive Officers of the Haj Committees of States and Union Territories held in Mumbai on Saturday, disclosed that Haj Committee of India Chairman of Qaiser Shameem and CEO Ataur Rehmaan have agreed to his proposal of deciding the Haj Quota on the basis of census 2011, so that the quota was increased for the two states.
Prof Shukoor, who represented the two states as Special Officer and Executive Officer, said that the Haj Forms would be issued from the month of January 2015. It was decided to select the pilgrims who are to undertake the hardships of the journey, he said and added that it was observed in the previous years that certain pilgrims who went on the pilgrimage and later on it was discovered that they were either severely ill or insane causing difficulties to the authorities and the relatives.
The meeting also agreed to conduct to select the Khadim ul Hujjaj from the state on line to bring transparency in the process, said Prof. Shukoor. He further said that the committee decided to supply two suit cases of identical size to all the pilgrims to avoid discrepancies in the luggage; to supply staple food to the pilgrims as per their region and to make arrangements of Qurbani (sacrificing the animal) by the Haj Committee itself. He said that the HCI agreed to represent to the appropriate authorities for providing A/C and Conveyor Belt facilities at the Haj Terminal of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. (INN)
