Hyderabad: Governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have declared public holiday on 23rd May, being the day of counting of votes of the recently held Lok Sabha elections.
This holiday has been declared for all the government offices, educational institutions and other offices under Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
Govt. of AP has also issued similar orders in this regard. All the district collectors and election officers have been delegated powers of declaring public holiday on 23rd May at local levels. However, Govt. treasuries and sub treasuries in the districts will continue to work as usual.
It may be mentioned that in the first phase of general elections, votes were polled on 11th April for Lok Sabha in Telangana and for Lok Sabha and Assembly in AP.
