Telangana, Andhra leaders plead for division of state

Andhra Pradesh Freedom Fighters’ Core Committee chairman Acharya Konda Lakshman Bapuji has demanded the Central government to start the process of separate Telangana state after completion of the Presidential election. He urged the Central government to implement its statement on Telangana issue on December 9, 20009.

Speaking at a round table on ‘Protagonists of De-merger of Andhra Pradesh State’ organized by state Freedom fighters’ Core Committee here on Monday, Lakshman appealed to the Seemandhra leaders to support separate Telangana state. He informed that they would intensify the agitation if the centre failed to concede separate state demand. He said that they would protect the settlers’ assets and rights in Telangana region after separate state is formed. He said that they would achieve separate state through agitation.

Former Home Minister and separate Andhra movement leader Vasantha Nageswara Rao said that Punjab, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have been divided, in to two states each, and people of those state were living as brothers. He demanded the Central government to immediately announce separate Andhra State. He urged the Central government to announce Hyderabad city as second capital of the country.

Telangana Telugu Desam Forum convener Errabelli Dayakar Rao said that the party was discussing on taking a stand on the Telangana issue. He said that the party leadership would announce its stand on separate statehood shortly.

Separate Andhra movement leader Chalasani Prasad said that the Seemandra region has been losing since the last 50 years. Seemandhra region would develop only after formation of Separate State, he added. He said that water disputes could be solved in an amicable way after formation of separate Telangana stat

Balladeer Gadar stressed the need to change the separate state movement and leadership and find new way to achieve the Telangana state. He said that the people of the region have to find the betrayers of separate state and fight against them.
