Telangana activists take part in Vanta Varpu

Hyderabad, July 13: Thousands of Telangana activists took part in the Vanta Varpu (cooking on roads) programme across Telangana barring Hyderabad demanding statehood for Telangana.

The TJAC convener, Prof. Kodandaram, TRS MLAs, Mr T. Harish Rao, Mr K.T. Rama Rao and the BJP MLA, Mr G. Kishan Reddy and other T MLAs participated in the programme in different districts.

This is the second time that TJAC is organising Vanta Varpu after it was first conducted in Hyderabad. “The programme is a big success. Thousands of people including women and children participated in the Vanta Varpu. We will keep up the tempo. The smoke from the cooking places will hit Delhi,” Prof. Kodandaram said. Mr Jupally Krishna Rao who resigned as a minister participated in Mahbubnagar while the former TD MLA, Mr Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, organised it in Banswada. “We organised Vanta Varpu in 150 places in Vikarabad,” Mr A. Chandrasekhar, former TRS MLA said.

Several government employees bunked offices and participated in the programme. On National Highway No. 9 near Nalgonda, hundreds of activists and children sat on the road to eat lunch. There were similar scenes on national and state highways in places like Medchal, Toopran, Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Adilabad, Shadnagar, Mahbubnagar, Sangareddy, and Sadashivpet besides Warangal, Khammam, Medak, Karimnagar and Ranga Reddy.
