Telangana activists in preventive custody

Warangal, February 08: Tense moments were experienced in Warangal district today with Telangana activists being taken into preventive custody for planning to stop chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy from participating in Rachabanda scheduled to be held at Rayinigudem in Mulug Assembly segment on February 10.

After a marathon exercise, district officials have finalised the chief minister’s programme in the village.

But Telangana activists arranged ‘Dhoom Dhaam’ programme in the village this evening and TJAC called upon people to observe bandh on February 9. They also demanded that the chief minister’s programme should be cancelled.

But police, who already have taken the village under their control, arrested Telangana activists and prevented them from entering the village this evening.

Police arrested TRS MLA D Vinay Bhaskar, district TRS president Peddi Sudarshan Reddy, BJP district president Devender Reddy and 200 other workers in Jakaram in Mulug mandal while they were proceeding to Rayinigudem.

In view of the chief minister’s programme, a large number of police forces were deployed in the village and check posts were set up in Jakaram, Mulug and Jangalapalle routes to prevent trouble from Telangana protestors.

According to sources, greyhounds police also conducted combing operations in the forest around Rayinigudem. Outsiders are reportedly not being allowed to enter into the village.District collector Rahul Bojja, Warangal Rural SP Shanawaz Qasim and other officials supervised arrangements for Rachabanda.

Mulug MLA D Anasuya (TDP) had already announced that they would boycott the chief minister’s Rachabanda programme. Political JAC convener Papireddy sent letters to the Congress MLAs and MPs urging them to cancel Rachabanda programmes.
