Hyderabad: As heavy rainfall continues in Telangana, the irrigation officials opened four gates of the Lower Manair Dam (LMD) on Saturday.
After the opening of the dam gates around 8,000 cusecs of water were released into the Manair river.
The Moyathummeda river, and the Mid Manair Dam (MMD) reservoir, which lies upstream in the Boinpalli Mandal, as well as other sources in the catmint region, all contribute significantly to the enormous inflows into the LMD reservoir.
The current water supply for LMD is 30,981 cusecs, with 11,771 cusecs coming from Moyathummeda, 11,164 from MMR, and 144.175 from CR, and 2,300 from KM.
Due to this, the project’s water levels exceeded its 24.07 tmc storage capacity by 21.4 tmc. In order to control inflows and outflows, project authorities opened four floodgates, releasing 8,000 cusecs of water.
