Tehran to Nowruz art exhibition

Tehran, March 12: Tehran’s Museum of Contemporary Arts is planning to hold an exhibition of works by master Iranian artists during the Persian New Year (Nowruz) holidays.

The event will display works from the museum’s Iranian treasure on the theme of ‘Nowruz, Spring and Nature,’ Fars News Agency reported.

The exhibition will kick off on March 22 as part of the programs for the International Nowruz Celebrations in Iran, announced deputy director of Tehran’s Museum of Contemporary Arts Ehsan Aqaei.

The exhibition will showcase works by veteran artists such as Sohrab Sepehri, Faramarz Pilaram, Reza Shahabi, Ali-Mohammad Heidarian, Mehdi Vishkaei, ahmad Esfandiari, Davoud Emdadian, Yaqoub Emdadian, Reza Mafi, Mohammad Ehsaei, Abolqasem Saeedi, Nasrollah Afjei, Jalil Rasouli and Monir Farmanfarmayan, he added.

According to Aqaei, the event will also display some modern artworks which were exhibited on the sidelines of the 2011 Fajr International Visual Arts Festival.

Ahmad Kafshchian-Moqaddam, Abdolmajid Hosseini, Mohammad-Mehdi Anoushfar, Mohsen Rastani and Nezamoddin Emamifar are the artists whose modern works will be displayed at the museum.

Tehran hosts the second part of the ‘Manifestations of the World’s Contemporary Arts’ exhibition, showcasing a collection of rare international artworks.

Apart from its rich Iranian treasure trove, the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Arts is known for its exquisite collection of Western art which contains impressionist, cubist, abstract, minimalist and conceptual masterpieces by modern and 19th-century artists from around the globe.

Claude Monet, Paul Gauguin, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, Kamil Jacob Pissarro, Fernand Leger, Rene Magritte, Max Ernst, Vasily Kandinsky, Pierre Soulages, Francis Bacon, Juan Miro and Roy Lichtenstein are among the artists whose works are housed at the Tehran Museum.
